I’ll take a wild guess and say that you like skateboarding. You do? Knew it! And I also know that if you are into skateboarding, you’ve gone over some of the technical details and found out about the different things that you need in order to make a skateboard deck functional. Today you are going to read our complete Orangatang Wheel Review.
My focus for the moment is on the wheels and more specifically, wheels of a particular kind. Here, I will be giving you an overview of the Orangatang Heat skateboard cruising wheels and let me tell you, you’ll want to pay attention to this orangatang wheel review.
Orangatang Wheel Review
Features of Orangatang Wheel:
Though this unit didn’t make it to our best longboard wheels guide, it still has some quality features. Let’s have a look.
These are wheels with very fine and well-rounded edges on them, making them the ideal type to use on flat and concrete surfaces. Rounded shapes, in general, are more stable and less wobbly on regular flat terrain and you’ll probably use perfectly round wheels for your whole life unless you skateboard at the beach or something!
The build of the wheels is such that they are quite versatile and let the user do a number of different things. The wheels can support and maintain the balance when the board is moving through a surface at very high speeds, it has enough grip to gain substantial speed with the kick-off while keeping friction low between the wheels and the ground so you can imagine that you will pick up quite a bit of speed in relatively little time. I think the real question is how fast you really want to go at this point!
The wheel itself is made of Orangatang’s very own urethane formula, a formula that is well known to create some very nifty wheels that have a plush feel to them but at the same time, are quite smooth rollers on the ground and allows users to slide quite easily and properly. The optimal combination of grip and slide is what you are normally looking for when you’re out buying wheels for general use and in this particular set of wheels, you most definitely are close to that.
The wheel has a 75mm radius and with 56mm dedicated to the contact area, it has a considerably smaller area of the core. Although that isn’t necessarily the best design, the core itself, colored slightly differently to the rest of the wheel, is quite strong and provides plenty of support for the wheel to fall back on. The core provides enough reaction force on the contact area of the wheel to maintain the shape and keeping the slides really smooth.
Color & Combinations
The product comes with the option of three different color combinations, with the color of the contact area being available in either purple, orange or yellow. However, the core is the same violet color regardless of which you choose. The hardness of the wheel also varies with color and yellow will be the hardest that you can get, being rated at 86a. It’ll take vibrations worse than the others but if you prefer harder wheels, than you know which one to get.
Great for general purpose skateboarding. It is good for just moving around, moving down slopes and small hills and to a degree, skidding in and about objects that you are likely to encounter on the road. Therefore, it is going to be a very good choice for you and any user if that is your particular use case. And knowing most people, that is what they tend to do. Not everyone is an expert around here!
The wheels are of a decent size, coming in at 75mm in diameter. Wheels of this size will let you get over a lot of objects even on rougher terrains. You can probably skate with this on dirt roads and over branches and twigs and rocks with little effort. The wheels are big enough to where it’ll just leap over all these objects. Don’t try to move over really large rocks though! You could damage the board!
The variation in hardness will let you choose one that is to your liking. You can use the orange wheels and keep unwanted vibrations to a minimum for a steadier ride and if you feel like you can stay in control easier than go with the harder wheels and get a more solid and faster ride. It’s really up to you.
Color & Material
The few colors that you can choose also, to some degree, let you color coordinate with the rest of your skateboard. If you have a colored design on both the truck of your board and the body of the deck, it’ll look just that bit nicer with the right color on those wheels. Everyone likes some nice wheels on their board!
Although the build material is decent for skateboarding, it isn’t the hardest. A lot of users won’t be a fan of the softer wheels and they are likely going to take a lot of energy to push around with. It’s not too much of a problem if you are somewhat experienced but it’s a bit of a hindrance nevertheless.
Orangatang Nipples Longboard Skateboard Truck Bushings
Cruise around town with these handy and sturdy rubber urethane wheels. As these are resistant to acids, chemicals, abrasions, and any kind of solvents, you can expect these wheels to stick around for a while. Although the material is quite squishy and bouncy you won’t notice any defects too soon.
Rubber wheels with high rebound such as this one allow a more energetic carving, cruising, and free riding with a highly responsive bushing.
In this pack, you get two taller bushings and two shorter bushings. The pack of fours replaces all the wheels on your board. For ease of use, sturdy flat washers are also included. By being slightly taller the bottom bushing barrels the difference is loading is taken account of.
These can be a perfect fit for your Paris Trucks. When it comes to Randal’s you might face some problem getting the wheels to fit in completely in the bushing seat but they do work. Try to avoid these wheels if you own a Caliber, Bear Grizzly or Gullwing Chargers.
While these are a great option for pumping and carving if used for high-speed riding, especially on e boards you will notice a lot of wobbling. To fix this you could try and get a tighter fit but riding at a moderate speed is recommended.
If you are a heavy rider, these will be a great cheap alternative. Even if riders are more than 250 pounds, the wheels stay stable and strong.
